Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 In Montreal

"Kimbo Slice (4-1) carried season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter reality show to series records this past fall. The former street fighter is now making his way to Pay-Per View.
Kimbo is expected to face off against former TUF 10 castmember Matt “Meathead” Mitrione (1-0) at UFC 113 in Montreal. UFC 113 is scheduled to take place on May 1st and the fight card is currently headlined by a light-heavyweight title bout between Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
The match was first reported by FiveOuncesOfPain.com, and MMAjunkie.com was able to confirm that both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout.
This will fight will surely provide fireworks as Mitrione is not afraid to stand and trade punches."

Penn-Edgar Next for Lightweight Division

"Frankie Edgar will be the next in line for B.J. Penn, UFC President Dana White told MMAFighting.com on Tuesday.
Edgar and Gray Maynard had been earmarked as frontrunners for the division’s next championship bout after Penn dismantled Diego Sanchez over five rounds at UFC 107 on Dec. 12 in Memphis, Tenn. Maynard fought Nate Diaz to a split decision at UFC Fight Night 20 on Monday in Fairfax, Va., but his performance wasn’t hailed as a contender-advancing effort, clearing the way for Edgar.
A date and venue for Penn’s fourth title defense hasn’t been announced, though the 31-year-old Hawaiian said he’d likely be fighting at a proposed event on April 12 in Abu Dhabi for the promotion’s first show in the Middle East.
Penn, Sherdog.com’s No. 1 ranked lightweight, has delivered top caliber performances in his last five victories. Penn has lost only once in the last two and a half years, when he moved up a weight division to challenge UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre for his crown. With St. Pierre inflicting consistent damage on Penn, the Hilo native’s corner stopped the bout between the fourth and fifth rounds.
The swift and agile Edgar has gotten “Fight of the Night” nods in two of his last three bouts. The 27-year-old Toms River, N.J. native cut his teeth on the East Coast’s local circuit in popular promotions Ring of Combat and Reality Fighting before he debuted against the previously undefeated Tyson Griffin at UFC 67 in February 2007. Not expected to keep up with the intense Griffin, Edgar impressed with his frenetic pace en route a unanimous decision victory. Edgar’s last victory came to unranked Matt Veach at “The Ultimate Fighter 10” Finale on Dec. 5 in Las Vegas.
Edgar’s only career defeat came to Maynard at UFC Fight Night 13 in April 2008."

UFC Fight Night 20 Fighter Salaries: Chris Leben’s $60K Tops Payroll

"Chris Leben topped the $363,000 payroll for Monday’s UFC Fight Night 20, according to figures released Wednesday by the Virginia State Athletic Commission, taking home an event-high $60,000 for his decision victory over Jay Silva on the event’s preliminary.
Other top-earners for the Spike-televised event included headliners Gray Maynard ($40,000) and Nate Diaz ($48,000) along with Amir Sadollah ($30,000) and Aaron Simpson ($22,000).
UFC Fight Night 20 drew a sellout crowd of 8,500 to the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia, generating a $730,000 live gate.

UF hires Azzanni as new receivers coach

"Zach Azzanni of Central Michigan (pictured) has been hired as the new receivers coach for the Gators.He replaces Billy Gonzales, who has been named the passing game coordinator at LSU, leaving his position as receivers coach at Florida.Azzanni's 2009 wide receiver unit was one of the most prolific in the college football. Bryan Anderson established an NCAA mark with a catch in 53 consecutive games, while Antonio Brown has a streak of 40 straight games with a catch. In 2004 he coached a group that produced four receivers with 1,000 yards receiving. Five of his receivers at Bowling Green went on to sign professional contracts.He graduated with a degree in Sports Management in 1999 from Central Michigan. Azzanni and his wife, Julia, have two daughters: Ava (2) and Lyla (1)."
