Hollywood Broke Brittany Murphy's Heart, Says Husband

from eonline.com:

"For the family members of young Hollywood starlet Brittany Murphy, her tragic death is still too difficult to comprehend.

The actress's husband, Simon Monjack, and mother, Sharon Murphy, opened up on a recent visit to Larry King Live, and the grieving pair are leaning on each other to get through this trying time.

"It's like a rebirth. There's not enough time—your dreams, be they good or bad, when you wake up and I reach out to touch or hold my wife, she isn't there," Monjack relayed to King when asked how he's coping since Murphy's passing.

After being with the star at the time of her death, Sharon and Monjack have developed a somber bond."Sharon and I were holding each other. And they let us know at the same time that she hadn't made it," he explained.

"But we knew before that," recalled Murphy. "You felt her life go out of her."

And while speculation surrounding Murphy's passing is still rampant, Monjack has his own explanation: "You want to know what broke Brittany Murphy's heart? Hollywood broke Brittany Murphy's heart."

Autopsy: Adams died of cardiac arrest

from espn.com:

"Chicago Bears defensive end Gaines Adams died Sunday morning after he was taken to a Greenwood, S.C., emergency room, the county coroner said.

Greenwood County coroner James T. Coursey told ESPN that Adams was taken to the emergency room at Self Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9 a.m. Coursey said the preliminary autopsy performed Sunday indicated Adams died of cardiac arrest.

Adams went into cardiac arrest at his family's home early Sunday morning, said Marcia Kelley-Clark, chief deputy coroner for Greenwood County.

The autopsy showed Adams had an enlarged heart, a condition Kelley-Clark said can often lead to a heart attack. But Adams' relatives didn't know about it.

"Nobody was aware of any kind of medical condition," Kelley-Clark said.

Toxicology tests are being run by the State Law Enforcement Division, though drug use was not suspected as a factor in Adams' death. However, those results probably will not be available for at least two months, Kelley-Clark said.

"We are stunned and saddened by the news of Gaines' passing," the Bears said in a statement. "Our prayers are with his family during this difficult time."

Adams, 26, listed at 6-foot-5 and 256 pounds, played in college at Clemson and was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft. He was traded to the Bears in October.

"I remember him at the 2007 Draft as a fine young man," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "Our condolences to Gaines' family, his teammates on the Bears and Buccaneers, and their organizations on their loss."

In 47 games over three seasons with the Bucs and Bears, Adams had 67 tackles, including 13.5 sacks.

Adams had not been able to live up to expectations that he would revive the Buccaneers' once-feared pass rush. He fell short of the benchmark set by Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris, who said at the start of training camp that Adams would be considered a "bust" if he didn't reach double digits in sacks.

Adams said during training camp that he welcomed the challenge posed by Morris, who also called out the third-year pro after Adams began the season with lackluster performances in the first three games.

"In football you need that. Players tend to get in their own element and do things that they want to do. They need to be called out sometimes. He's the coach. Whatever he says, goes," Adams said in early August.

"I take it as a challenge. Being drafted fourth overall, that comes with the territory. It's year three for me. Obviously it's time for me to step up."

With the Bears, Adams played brief stints on defense. He made five tackles.

"We thought the player was a quality player, and if we get him in our system with our coaches, we have a lot of confidence we can make it work," Chicago general manager Jerry Angelo said after the Bears acquired Adams.

Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher told the Chicago Tribune that Adams' death was "crazy."

"I didn't know him that well because he came in during the middle of the season," Urlacher said. "But I did know him. I still saw him every day when I went into work. It's just weird.

"I had a teammate die when I was in college. You just don't know how to handle it. It's just sad, man. It's a bad deal."

He was well-known among Clemson fans for breaking up Wake Forest's field goal try and returning it for a touchdown in 2006 to defeat the Demon Deacons.

Tommy Bowden, who was Adams' head coach at Clemson, said he couldn't believe the young player was gone.

"I just couldn't believe it was Gaines," Bowden said. "I will always remember the smile he had on his face and I will always remember his patience.""

Michael Jackson's kids just got their allowance upped -- from $60,000!

from tmz.com:

"Michael Jackson's kids just got their allowance upped -- from $60,000!

TMZ obtained court documents showing that Wednesday, the judge in the Michael Jackson estate case increased the monthly allowance, which totals $60,000 for Prince, Paris, and Blanket.

Sources tell TMZ the reason for the change -- the accounts guardian and lawyers underestimated the monthly expenses.

We don't know how much they're getting now, but it's a good bet Prince won't be slinging newspapers on your front porch anytime soon."

Arkansas Man Pleads Guilty for Plotting to Kill Obama

from foxnews.com:

"

JACKSON, Tenn. — An Arkansas man pleaded guilty Thursday to charges he plotted to kill then-Sen. Barack Obama and dozens of other black people in 2008.

Paul Schlesselman, 19, of Arkansas, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy, one count of threatening to kill and harm a presidential candidate and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

He faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in April.

A co-defendant, Daniel Cowart, 21, of Tennesse, remains in custody.

Authorities have described the two as white supremacist skinheads who hatched a plot for a cross-country robbery and killing spree that was to culminate with an attack on Obama, who was then a candidate for president.

They were arrested in October 2008 and have been held without bond since.

"Despite great civil rights progress, hate-fueled violence remains all too common in our country, as illustrated by this unthinkable conspiracy," Thomas E. Perez, assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division in the Justice Department, said in a statement.

An after hours message left with the federal public defenders office, who represented Schlesselman, was not immediately returned Thursday evening.

Authorities have said that although the two had enough guns to create carnage, they never got close to carrying out their plans.

When arrested, Cowart and Schlesselman were staying with Cowart's grandparents in rural northwest Tennessee. Much of the government's evidence against the two was seized by sheriff's deputies from the grandparents' home. Items seized from the home included a sawed-off shotgun, a high-powered rifle, a handgun and several swords and knives.

Federal investigators have said the two gave statements about their plans, which included shooting at Obama from a speeding car while wearing white tuxedoes and top hats.

Prosecutors have said investigators were looking for Schlesselman and Cowart on a tip from an informant when the two drove up to the home of Cowart's grandfather in a car emblazoned with a large swastika on the hood and the slogan "Honk if you love Hitler" on the back.

Authorities say Cowart and Schlesselman met over the Internet where they shared common white supremacist views."

Internet Kills Taylor Lautner in Latest Death Hoax

from eonline.com

"This is just dead wrong.

In a career milestone achieved by only a select few (and Jaleel White), Twilight Saga star Taylor Lautner has become the victim of his very own Internet death hoax.

Take that, Robert Pattinson.

No, Lautner's not really dead. A rep for Summit Entertainment tells E! News, "I am almost 100-percent positive this is a hoax." (After double-checking with the home office in Hollywood, the rep confirmed this was indeed a hoax.)

Besides, unless our favorite werewolf doubles as a zombie, he'll be presenting in the flesh at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards, organizers announced today.

But it's kind of an Interweb honor...

It wasn't that long ago the onetime Sharkboy was fighting to keep his New Moon role, and now he's a chiseled cinema stud who will soon be starring with (fellow death hoax victim) Tom Cruise. And that can only mean one thing: Some knucklehead had to go and claim Lautner's gone to that great wolf pack in the sky.

At least they gave him a unique demise. Unlike many others, Lautner didn't "die" at the hands of an infamous New Zealand cliff. Some so-called reports accused the 17-year-old of a cocaine overdose.

It's not so bad. Joining such undead luminaries as Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Miley Cyrus and even Twilight scribe Stephenie Meyer, Lautner can count himself in elite company.

That is, if he doesn't get too hung up on Jeff Goldblum, Sinbad and Urkel being there, too."

Man acquitted in Brevard toddler death trial

from floridatoday.com:

"VIERA -- A jury today acquitted a Melbourne man of charges that he killed his girlfriend’s toddler daughter while babysitting.

The 12-member panel deliberated about 2 ½ hours before returning the verdict in the case of Shane William George.

George, 24, had faced life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in connection with the April 2008 death of 16-month-old Veda VanCleave.

Police said George was watching the child on April 5, 2008, while her mother was at work.

Attorneys for George said the toddler slipped outside a tub, fell backward and hit her head on the tile. They said the child had pre-existing medical problems which likely contributed to her death.

Prosecutors argued that the child suffered a fractured skull and died of blunt force trauma to the head -- injuries that evidence suggested were too severe to be an accident."
